  1. Why do you say for a person who is born into sin call on Jesus and be saved? One is sin does not do that unless his heart is changed first by the Holy Spirit as I understand it? Jesus said none come to me except the Father sends him. Please let me know if I am wrong due to you and others miss lead people to the fact they are doing the calling. Thank you.

  2. You ask a great question, William–one that we cannot fully understand. You are correct when you say that the Bible teaches “no one can come to [Jesus] unless the Father draws him.” (John 6:44) But, Scripture also teaches the free moral agency of man (our free will) — “whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21) There is a tension here that we cannot fully understand — it is a mystery. A simplistic way of putting it is that God does the calling and we respond in faith. But, because “whosoever will may come” is an open invitation, no one can say they were excluded from God’s grace because He didn’t choose him or her. But, if they do genuinely come, it is proof of God’s election.

I hope this helps. I’ll forward your question and my response to Pastor Jim to see if he needs to correct anything I’ve said or clarify things. Thank you again for contacting us!

  3. Pastor Jim “approved” my reply and added another Scripture reference – Isaiah 55:6-7.
