Introduction to Malachi
The prophet Malachi was a post-exilic voice whose time of ministry has been traditionally dated between 450-430 B.C. Even after a remnant returned to their homeland when King Cyrus of Persia emancipated them in 539 B.C. and the second Temple was rebuilt, the post-exilic prophets met with stubborn drifts toward various forms of infidelity to God. In the Lord’s behalf Malachi addresses some all too familiar forms of sins which had cost them God’s blessing. From his reproofs we can learn much for our own walk with God.
