Many people misunderstand the doctrine of election to mean that some human beings are predestined to damnation. However, the Scriptures teach redundantly, “whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved” (Rom. 10:13). These passages demonstrate that it is human beings, because of their anti-God disposition and love of darkness, who reject this gracious offer and condemn themselves to Hell. These passages also highlight the nature of sin and its universality among all human beings.
